This weekend we stayed in a beautiful B+B called Park Farm House in Tollard Royal (Salisbury). The scenery alone was going to make for a superb stay however on arriving at our B + B we were greeted and welcomed by the lovely Sarah & Jasper who made our stay delightful. Highly recommended and deserves 5 stars without a doubt!
Tollard Royal is a village and civil parish on Cranborne Chase, Wiltshire, England. The parish is on Wiltshire’s southern boundary with Dorset and the village is 6 miles (10 km) southeast of the Dorset town of Shaftesbury. The “Royal” in the toponym refers to the royal hunting lodge that was used for hunting on the Chase.
The weather today topped 32 degrees C and so the walking we had planned turned into a lots of driving with the air conditioning on full blast and a pub garden. We managed to take some lovely pictures today and look forward to your comments.
Fathers Day 2013 was spent at Lepe Beach enjoying the noise of the waves and the delicious bacon, leek, lentil and potato soup we took in our flasks. We managed to get some great pictures of out little Millie today as she hunted for her stick.
If you have not heard of Lepe Beach before then check out the map below. Its a beautiful location with something for everyone and has some amazing history to offer up.
Here are some pictures from our trip, it was great fun taking these photographs and we would love to hear your comments
Our visit to the English Heritage landscape in and around Salisbury
Another romantic day out together at Wardour Castle in Slaisbury enjoying our English Heritage membership.
Set in the peaceful Wiltshire countryside beside a lake, Old Wardour Castle, near Tisbury was once one of the most daring and innovative homes in Britain. It was built in the 14th century as a lightly fortified luxury residence for comfortable living and lavish entertainment. Today the castle ruin provides a relaxed, romantic day out for couples, families and budding historians alike.
On the 25th May 2013 I and Mel decided to take a trip to Winchester to see Wolvesey Castle. I had forgotten just what a historic town this is, full of the most wonderful history at every turn. The cathedral, the castle, the abbey and the farmers market kept us more than busy and left so much still to be visited. We will be returning soon to complete our tour and sample some more of the cake at “Ginger Two” cafe.
